The Monday evening classes are designed for adults and mature teens. The figures are easy and fun to learn. Alabama Academy of
Irish Dance
The Alabama Academy of Irish Dance was founded in Birmingham in 2002 and is sponsored by the Birmingham Branch of Comhaltas Ceoltoiri Eireann. The AAID is focused on preserving the traditional Irish arts through music and dance. Along with the Birmingham Branch of Comhaltas Ceoltoiri Eireann the AAID regularly hosts Irish Dance workshops for those who are interested in learning the art form and participating in troop. Dancers with the Alabama Academy of Irish Dance are also encouraged to explore their musical talent by studying an Irish instrument of their choice. AAID takes part in outreach programs in schools and other venues and is also available for peformance bookings at parties, weddings, wakes and other special events. The Drake School of Irish Dance, Alabama Branch offers classes in traditional Irish Dance for children and adults of all experience levels. Drake Alabama dancers have the opportunity to perform throughout the year at a variety of functions. Drake Alabama dancers are eligible to compete at any sanctioned feis if so desired but it is not a requirement to dance. Anam Cara Irish Dancers
We are an Irish performance dance group in Birmingham, Alabama. Our group consist of members from 8 to 16 years old. We do not compete at Irish dance competitions at the present time, but devote our attention on performances in order to entertain the public . Our primary purpose is to promote Irish culture through dancing in various local functions . Sharing our love for Irish dancing with an audience, and seeing the enjoyment it brings to their faces, is what makes us happy. The members of Anam Cara are close friends or siblings who danced together at various Irish step dancing schools.Anam Cara means soul friends, which is why we have come together.
